Job Summary:
Carries out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice, with emphasis on leading a culture of safe care. Responsible for all activities requiring assessment, planning, diagnosing, evaluating, judgment, problem-solving, creating and implementing the plan of care. Administers prescribed medications in accordance with policies and procedures of the organizations. Provides appropriate education to patients and families to promote health, facilitate rehabilitation and maintain wellness. Evaluates effectiveness revising appropriately. Serves as an advocate for patients and families while applying ethical principles of care. Consults patient data to identify trends in patient status; applies findings to enhance plan of care. Monitors and evaluates patient responses to treatment and collaborate with multidisciplinary team to adjust plan of care. Gives an accurate objective and complete hand off communication with change of caregivers. Utilizes and engages in evidence based practice to deliver quality patient care. Demonstrates characteristics and skills that promote critical thinking in clinical problem solving situations.
Our educational purpose is to train fellows in the fundamentals of addiction medicine including (1) the elements of specific treatments for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and (2) assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders in the presence of comorbid SUDs and (3) assessment, treatment, referral of medical complications of Addiction and Addiction related disorders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at time of acceptance.
