Position Information Position Title Adjunct Diesel Instructor, Open-Entry/Self Paced FLSA Non-Exempt Full Time/Part Time Part Time Department Diesel Mechanics Campus Central Campus Location Central Campus Salary $20.00 per hour Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - 19.5 hours per week Summary of Position Responsible for educating and training students in various aspects of diesel systems, including diagnostics, repair, and maintenance in an open-entry, self-paced environment. This is an in-person position that involves developing and delivering curriculum, providing hands-on instruction, assessing student progress, maintaining tools, equipment, and facilities, and fostering strong industry connections to prepare students for successful careers in the automotive field. Minimum Required Education Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required. Transcripts must be uploaded to the application. Minimum Required Experience 3-to-5 years of recent paid work experience, exclusive of teaching ASE certification preferred. Kubota certification desired. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of 1. engines, including mechanical, electronic, and fuel systems, and their applications in various industries. 2. industry-specific standards, such as OSHA regulations, HAZMAT handling, and shop safety procedures. 3. new developments in diesel technology, including electric and hybrid systems, advanced diagnostic tools, and alternative fuels. 4. teaching methodologies, adult learning principles, and strategies for technical instruction. 5. effective communication techniques, especially when explaining complex mechanical systems to diverse learners with varying levels of expertise. Skills to 1. break down complex diesel concepts into clear, teachable segments, using hands-on demonstrations and practical applications. 2. align educational outcomes with industry needs. 3. convey technical information in an understandable and engaging way. 4. diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine issues and teaching students how to approach and resolve real-world mechanical problems. 5. design, develop, and revise curriculum to incorporate modern diesel technologies and industry standards. Ability to 1. anticipate industry trends and align program objectives with future workforce needs, ensuring students are well-prepared for evolving diesel technologies. 2. adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and stay flexible in response to technological advances and changes in the field. 3. lead classroom and lab environments, mentor students, and foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement. 4. work with advisory committees, colleagues, and industry partners to shape program outcomes and keep the curriculum relevant. 5. support student success through mentoring and providing constructive feedback to help students grow both technically and professionally.
