Position Title Adjunct Faculty American Sign Language Future Opportunities Department World Languages amp Cultures Position Category Adjunct About CCRI The Community College of Rhode Island is New Englands largest community college and a nationally recognized leader in catalyzing student success and achievement for recent high school graduates and returning adults alike We provide affordable open access to higher education and we deliver on our mission to offer all students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for intellectual professional and personal growthDiversity is our strength We champion equity and we celebrate support and thrive on the diverse experiences backgrounds and perspectives that are represented across our four campuses We strive to hire and retain culturally competent faculty and staff whose demographics are reflective of our diverse student body To learn more about our employees values and what it means to work here learn about our Guiding Principles here Job Summary JOB SUMMARY CCRIs Department of World Languages and Cultures invites applicants for future adjunct positions This posting is not for an immediate vacancy but for upcoming opportunities By applying you will be placed in a pool of candidates who will be reviewed when a suitable position becomes available SUBJECTS American Sign Language Duties and Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach elementary intermediate and specialized courses in ASLG Use innovative instructional strategies that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles Participate in curriculum and program design development and outcomes assessment Use technology to teach distance learning courses and enhance instruction teach asynchronous courses Contribute to a dynamic student centered environment requiring adaptability creativity and teamwork Demonstrate commitment to the community college mission and its diverse student populations Serve on college wide committees and engage in departmental discussion and development Be willing to commute and teach at multi campus locations as required by department needs Commitment to CCRIs Mission Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment Work collaboratively in a diverse inclusive and student centered environment with students of various learning styles cultures identities and life experiences Instructional Skills Plan develop present and modify courses from proposal to syllabus to delivery classroom hybrid or online to assessment to evaluation Teach assigned courses Convey knowledge and skills effectively to students Continue professional development as an educator Use advanced technologies to expand student resources and learning opportunities Assess student learning according to best practices in measurement of student performance objectives and outcomes Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in pedagogical approaches to a diverse population of students and peers Minimum Requirements Bachelors degree in Deaf studies or related field Experience teaching ASL Competencies Masters degree in Deaf Education Experience teaching ASL Minimum of three years teaching experience at the community collegeuniversity level preferred or equivalent 3 years experience at the secondary level Reports To Department Chair Campus Location Multi Campus Locations Full timePart time Part Time Shift Days and Additional Work Schedule Information Work Schedule Academic Benefits SalaryHourly Rate Additional Salary Information Licenses Tools and Equipment Environmental Conditions Desired Start Date Position End Date if temporary or grant
