Job OverviewThe School of Education is seeking part-time/limited project adjunct instructors to serve as a field supervisor to join the team in CECH Middle and Secondary Education. CECH serves as a model of and resource for diversity that actively supports, empowers, prepares, respects, and celebrates all students, staff, faculty, and community members by advancing, sustaining, and promoting diversity and inclusion in our personal reflections, intellectual pursuits, and professional development. The position requires the capacity to communicate program expectations and reporting requirements to student teachers and site mentors.
On a part time limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member’s primary academic functions include supervision, observation, and evaluation of teacher candidates at school partner sites. Email communication and grading of assignments may also be involved. The faculty member would be responsible for creating and reporting knowledge to a diverse set of students. In order to be successful with reporting this knowledge, demonstrated experience with diversity such as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, People of Color (BILPOC), Veterans, first-generation, students experiencing low-income, Disabilities, LGBTQIA+, etc.
Essential Functions Evaluate the teaching performance of teacher candidates Evaluate assignments Communicate with teacher candidates, mentor teachers, and UC faculty members regarding the performance of the teacher candidate Troubleshoot any issues that may arise Ability to work with adult learners Minimum Requirements Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline and prior teaching experience Earned Pk-12 teaching or supervisory license in an appropriate field Excellent written and oral communication skills Intermediate computer skills and willingness to use learning management systems, such as Canvas and SLL Reliable means of transportation to partner schools Availability during the typical pk-12 school day for supervision, grading assignments and responding to emails Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds Additional Qualifications Considered Appreciate the imperative for diversity, equity, inclusion, social and racial justice Knowledge of changing educational landscape for marginalized populations Demonstrated experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse studentsCompensation and Benefits
