Job Summary 

Multiple courses may be available for Academic Year 2023-2024 in the Department of Community Health & Prevention including courses in behavior and social change theories, community theory and health practice, health communication, measuring health outcomes, outcomes and impact evaluation, global health, public health ethics, and history of public health. These courses have been taught previously, so previously used syllabi and course materials are available. The adjunct faculty member will select course materials in accordance with the approved course description, foster active learning in all students, maintain proper course-related records, evaluate student work, and provide students with feedback. Courses that enroll 30 or more will usually have a teaching assistant. Some courses are online and asynchronous, others are in-person on Drexel’s University City campus.  

The School of Public Health is on the quarter system and each course is ten weeks long, with three hours of instruction per week. The full calendar can be viewed at  https://drexel.edu/provost/policies-calendars/academic-calendars/quarters-2022-2024/ 

Essential Functions 

Teach required number of credit hours per quarter   Plan and provide instructional experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the program  Provide instruction consistent with approved course descriptions  Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes  Maintain communication with the department chair and program director regarding any course or student issues  Supervise a teaching assistant, if one is assigned to the course  Perform other similar duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications 

Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, medicine, bioethics, history of science, or related areas.  Must have teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level.  If applying for a course focusing on global issues, global expertise is necessary.
