The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the Research Department.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support, but not limited to the following:

Facilitate communication between the Assistant Dean for Research, Administration, Faculty and StudentsRecord minutes and maintain compliance files of research committees: Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Research Committee, Biosafety Committee, and ad hoc committees as assignedCollect and prepare reports related to research activities for submission to the Executive Dean, University, and/or accrediting bodies.Assist in the preparation of reports to Touro University Environmental Health and Safety Department including chemical inventoryMaintain compliance files for research laboratories, including biosafety records and documentsPrepare submission documents and maintain records of FDNY Certificate of Fitness (C-14) for faculty investigators and studentsCoordinate safety training of faculty investigators and students Coordinate purchase of supplies, chemicals, and equipmentCollect documentation and submit reimbursement requests for student or faculty conference travel.Initiate and maintain relationships with outside vendors and account representatives to facilitate purchasing of supplies and services; Assist investigators in obtaining quotes for supplies and servicesWork with investigators and other research staff to maintain ongoing service and service contracts for lab equipmentAssist with maintaining daily temperature records of space and refrigeration equipment Conduct and record weekly tests of eye-washing stationsProvide administrative support for on-site research conferences and/or research presentationsCompile research documentation and protocolsPerform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean for Research. Qualifications Education/ ExperienceBachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience Familiarity with operations of a research lab is preferred but not requiredKnowledge/ Skills/ AbilitiesGeneral administrative duties requiredEffectively manage and organize daily tasks, independently and with a team, while balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines requiredAccuracy and productivity in completing tasks requiredStrong interpersonal skills Well organized Able to prioritize tasksProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook
