Description The Department of Medicine (DoM) is seeking to hire a motivated Administrative Assistant to support the Associate Professor and Associate Vice Chair for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). The UCLA DoM EDI Office advances diversity, equity, and inclusion among students, trainees, faculty, and staff, emphasizing health equity, scientific excellence, and compassionate care. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio, including health inequities research, clinical education, and community engagement programs like First Gen for DoM EDI and UCLA CTSI's Community Engagement Research Program (CERP). The Administrative Assistant will drive collaboration with organizations serving under-resourced communities, support health disparities research, and engage with stakeholders to strengthen partnerships. The ideal candidate is an independent problem-solver with experience working across multidisciplinary teams and institutions. Preferred skills include Spanish proficiency, website development, and social media content creation. Hourly range: $29.42-$42.14Qualifications Required: + Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in relevant field. + Skill in working independently and following through on assignments. Ability to perform duties and tasks independently with minimal supervision. + Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members and faculty. Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibilities and in coordinating projects from multiple supervisors. + Ability to use journal and granting agency style guidelines to prepare manuscripts, proposals, and bibliographies + Skill in typing questionnaires and manuscripts from rough handwritten draft and edited versions into final forms. Skill in typing numerical tables of data using format provided. + Ability to use software Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Access), Dreamweaver, Internet Browsers. + Knowledge of University policies and procedures on travel. + Knowledge of University policies and procedures regarding procurement. + Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to HSPC and IRB forms. + Must be organized and able to keep accurate records. + Ability to correctly judge the best way to accomplish each step of required tasks. + Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with co-workers, research coordinators, and participants. Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating closely with coworkers. Preferred: + Experience in working with safety net hospitals and clinics, such as MLK Medical Center (and others) and Federally Qualified Health Centers and has community ties to these settings, or worked with community-based organizations is strongly preferred + Website development, social media and public sector writing and content development skills + Knowledge and working relationships with the DOM media office, community partners and leaders + Ability to speak and write in Spanish.
