Job Description: The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition within the College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking an Administrative Assistant II. This role provides administrative support to the department chair and serves as a liaison for daily operations with other administrative offices, visitors, faculty, and staff. The Administrative Assistant II will handle requests and inquiries on behalf of the department chair, addressing and resolving various issues as they arise. The position involves overseeing special projects assigned by the chair, coordinating internal and external communications, and managing functions such as meetings, visitor arrangements, and special department events. Responsibilities include preparing for meetings, taking minutes, planning events, and ensuring effective communication within the department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal communication skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
