functions and facilitating communication among team members under the supervision of a registered nurse; requires a
person with a positive attitude who is pleasant and cooperative; displays a professional demeanor with patient, families,
physicians and fellow employees; works under stressful conditions and remains pleasant and productive; works as a team member.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Performs general reception duties (answering phone, directing visitors and answering questions) in an efficient manner.Communicates patient and family needs and concerns to appropriate member of the care team following unit standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.Coordinates patient’s activities with ancillary departments.Programs Nurse Call, assigns phones/pagers, and. inputs patient care assignments in documentation systemUpdates nurse phone list on the intranetDistributes incoming mail.Meets professional growth goals set with Manager/director, including completion of educational requirements.Coordinates maintenance for computers, pagers, fax machines, Zebra machine and copiers.Performs unit specific secretarial functions (word processing, ordering office supplies, stocking galleys, delivering medication to nurses servers, returning medications to pharmacy as needed, monitoring falls and isolations, training/orienting staff, etc.) per protocol for the specific unit.Assembles/disassembles admission and transfer chartsEnters orders and patient information into computer correctly and transcribes orders as needed.Monitors printed items on printer and disperses or files as neededFollows through on all consultations and appointments calls, documentation, faxes and copies charts.Places patient information on the correct chart in designated order in a timely manner.Maintains an adequate supply of chart forms available for patient’s records.Organizes the work area Nurse server and team control centers (TLCs)Assures charts and chart holders are cleaned according to unit standards.Enters and/or updates, physician changes, code status changes, falls risk and isolation in computer and/or on chart stickers and patient doors/wall chicklets as appropriate for the unitEnsures discharge paperwork is prepared and/or faxed (discharge packets, orders for diagnostic or outpatient labs, treatment sheets for dialysis etc.)Admits, transfers and discharges patient in the computer system timely and accuratelyEnsures admissions, transfers and discharges are properly maintained accurately and timely during downtime (downtime box stocked, downtime computer maintained)Breaks down charts in a timely manner and sends them to HIMEmbrace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, by:Treating everyone with dignity and respect
