We are seeking an Administrative Director to lead all aspects of the instrument processing operations of all CCHS sites that clean, high level disinfect and sterilize reusable instruments. This role assumes 24/7 responsibility for efficient, effective and safe service with a strong focus on quality, outcomes, and physician and caregiver happiness. These responsibilities include direct supervision of the Sterile Processing department at Christiana SurgiCenter, Newark and Wilmington campuses, and oversight over all ancillary departments/office practices that perform reprocessing functions
Responsibilities:In this role you will assume responsibility and accountability for the development, coordination and evaluation of SPD processes at sites that perform reusable instrument processing.
Ensures compliance with all applicable policies and procedures and legal/regulatory requirements.
Develops and manages relationships to improve the impact of quality and happiness initiatives including developing positive relationships with Infection Prevention, the Perioperative Services leadership team, and caregivers of the ancillary departments. Provides ongoing communication with a focus on building trust and accountability.
Gives to the strategic planning process for Perioperative Services, giving to and supporting the organization’s strategic plan, including developing and implementing short- and long-term strategic plans for Sterile Processing Services.
Leads the fiscal and budgetary demands by addressing staffing, workforce planning, equipment and instrument purchasing and all other issues that impact the ability of the departments to perform in a fiscally responsible manner.
Maintains and evaluates technical service performance according to SPD industry standards.
Mentors and develops staff and others including helping them become excellent problem solvers and decision makers.
Collaborates with Ancillary Departments, Physician Practice Managers, and Infection Prevention in the oversight of and management of all reprocessing services done within CCHS.
Participates in the development of education programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines that describe reprocessing standards at CCHS.
Applies effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, co-workers, management, physicians, and ancillary department staff.
Supervises employee relations within Christiana SPD, Christiana SurgiCenter SPD, and Wilmington SPD.
Provides mentorship and direction to leadership in clinical area to support the service excellence goals of Christiana Care Health System.
Promotes and participates in programs for the recruitment, retention, development, advancement, and continuing education of SPD staff.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field required.
Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of five (5) years recent and progressive managerial experience in a clinical setting.
Certification as SPD technician required.
