Administrative Generalist, Precision Health Initiative

The University of Virginia is seeking a motivated Administrative Generalist for a role in our ambitious new effort to launch the Precision Health Initiative (PHI), building upon ongoing Precision Health Research in Cancer and Youth Mental Health at the University. Our goal is to take advantage of the tremendous promise of precision health in enhancing disease and health outcomes in Virginia. The PHI Administrative Generalist will be responsible for a variety of professional level work across a composite of administrative service areas including finance, procurement (ordering and scheduling services), human resources (managing onboarding in the PHI), trainee services (postdoctoral tracking and event planning), communications (newsletters and website), space and facilities and/or high-level operational support for PHI-related events. The Administrative Generalist will report to the PHI Senior Research Program Officer, under the umbrella of the Director and Associate Directors.

Job Description

Perform a variety of professional and operational duties that facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Precision Health Initiative. Interpret departmental and divisional policies and procedures, making decisions on specific operating problems and issuing instructions in the name of the PHI Leadership Team.Operate with the authority to affect, interpret, and implement management policies or operating practices.Advise department or division head and staff members on administrative problems. Assist with the compilation of reports and analyses tracking PHI progress and trends.Support strategic planning.May be responsible for the administration of budgets (the coordination of paperwork and documents related to budgets) and management of personnel matters. Control and maintain personnel records of PHI contracts and sponsored programs.Resolve problems that have a significant impact on the overall goals of the department. Serve on committees representing the interests of the department.Administer programs, ensure ethical issues are communicated and resolved, and provide consultation for faculty and staff with unique situations.Identify areas for additional funding and opportunities for improvements by conducting research, networking with colleagues, and designing and delivering recommendations.In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: At least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

POSITION DETAILS

This position is Remote/Hybrid/In-Person in Charlottesville, VA.  The anticipated start date is September 23, 2024. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance, with an end date of December, 2026. Anticipated Salary: $65,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. For more information on benefits, visit UVA benefits.
