This position requires use of independent judgment in reviewing, processing, communicating and maintaining various records and information. May perform other related duties as required. Metro Finance has several divisions, including procurement, public property, treasury and management and budget. The department's employees are charged with providing financial management, information and business products to policy makers, departments, investors, and the Nashville community to give them confidence in our government and to help them make informed decisions. Typical Duties + Performs various administrative duties assisting in the Directors Office. + Compiles, coordinates, and ensures responses to public records requests are completed in a timely manner. + Disseminates, receives, and interprets information as needed. + Assists Public Information Officer with responding to media inquiries. + Compiles and maintains various documents, budget, and financial information. + Handles complaints and inquiries, both in person and by telephone. + Follows up on complaints and requests to ensure that an expedient and appropriate response is given. + Coordinates activities between divisions. + Organizes and maintains various financial and administrative files and reports. + Proofreads and edits materials. + May requisition, verify, and distribute supplies. + May take minutes at meetings as needed. + May compose letters, memorandums, notices, and related documents. + May receive, sort, and distribute mail. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of professional experience in an administrative or technical field. "Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education" Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Experience in budgeting practices procedures and departmental policies and procedures. + Experience in office management, organizational methods, customer accounting and bookkeeping procedures. + General knowledge of audit requirements. + Ability to deal courteously with the public and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships + Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Publisher. + Knowledge of web page development and maintenance.
