This position provides independent oversight and decision making for all activities for the Zero Suicide Program, this includes organizing, directing, and controlling new and existing business within the program. The incumbent acts as a liaison between internal and external constituencies, working with multiple departments, physicians, and staff to understand and meet the needs of the program they oversee. This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

 

Department Overview: The University of Utah Zero Suicide Program mission is to develop a system-wide culture dedicated to dramatically reducing suicides by creating a competent, confident, and caring workforce and identifying, engaging, and caring for individuals at risk for suicide through evidence-based screening, assessment, and treatment.  The goal is to decrease suicides in Utah by ensuring every patient in the University of Utah Health system who is at risk for suicide has a pathway to care that is timely and adequately meets their needs.

Responsibilities Coordinates curriculum design, development, and delivery for suicide prevention educational programs and trainingsActs as a mentor providing education and guidance for hospital and clinic champions
Oversees daily program operations and coordinates program activities.Develops and implements program goals and objectives.Monitors program quality and effectiveness, and researches improvement methods.Establishes program budget, monitors and approves related expenditures, and ensures budget goals are met.Assists with fundraising activities.Advises staff, students, and others, regarding program policies, goals and related technical issues.Prepares reports, financial statements, as well as reports on program status, and progress for management, and outside agencies.Writes and edits program related publications, and promotional or educational materials.Oversees others who schedule meetings, seminars, and other program related functions.Acts as a liaison between internal and external constituencies involved in program activities.Works collaborative with the director and department staff in supporting departmental project needs.May assign, direct, and review work of support staff.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesAbility to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.Ability to work independently, analyze, and make decision related to program content.Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize deadlines.Demonstrated human relations, and effective communication skills.Ability to provide independent coordination and decision making for all activities of a specified program.Proficiency in statistical and business software applications.Excellent written and verbal communications skills and attention to detail. Qualifications QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency.One year of directly related experience.
