Administrative Specialist CL2: Health Center
The University of Maine at Presque Isle seeks a Medical Administrative Specialist CL 2 to work for the UMPI Student Health Center. This individual will collaborate with professionals in the Emerson Hall Annex regarding health and wellness for the campus community. The position will provide support for the Health Center Monday through Friday 8:00 am-1:00 pm in a Part-Time capacity. The Student Health Center is located in the Emerson Hall Annex. It provides students with a range of on-campus professional medical services. This person will assist with the management of the Health Center, including patient referrals, scheduling appointments, ordering supplies, managing relevant databases, contributing to student education and communication, as well as providing needed coverage for the office. The purpose of the position is to support the healthcare professionals in the Health Center while offering administrative aid. They will manage student records, schedule appointments, work with students on submitting their immunizations into appropriate databases, and maintain data regarding non-compliant students. The position will work closely with the Student Life Executive Assistant, the Director of the Health Center, and Counseling Services to provide communication and support for the University campus community. The term will be the entire calendar year. Hours per week not to exceed: 25 Hours The starting rate for this part-time, on-campus position is $18.22 for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee within the ACSUM collective bargaining unit. In addition, the University will contribute up to a 4% matching contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Key Responsibilities include (not limited to): + Helps patients by providing information, assistance, and appointment scheduling. + Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the information presented. + Responsible for processing patient data into the University of Maine Point and Click system as well as verifying student compliance in Campus Solutions. + Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential. + Works with the Director to provide educational programming relating to the Health Center. + Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. + Coordinating department purchasing and Processing purchase orders and posting accounts for billing. + Keeps supplies ready by inventory, stock, date, ordering and tracking supplies, and verifying receipts for the nursing office. + Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs, updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. + Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements. + Assists with additional office procedures and administrative tasks as instructed, including office coverage when other staff members are called away + Provides excellent customer service to students and visitors. + Assists with coverage of the Emerson Annex office throughout business hours. + Provides support to Counseling Services as needed. + Completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required + Education and experience: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
