Responsibilities You will serve as the authority on administrative matters, providing training and assistance to staff members. You will exercise exclusive control of the Fire Chief schedule, including maintaining calendar, establishes priority of appointments, arranges, reschedules, or refuses appointments; accepts or declines invitations to meetings. You will maintain and update file systems to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information. You will place orders for goods and services through several web-based systems and contract sources. You will serve as the time and attendance subject matter expert for the department, assisting employees in validating timecards for accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing direct support to the organization and programs by providing instruction on policies, goals, priorities and commitments to maintain an efficiently organized department; 2) Utilizing personal computers to produce correspondence and/or reports; and 3) Providing clerical/administrative services to assist office personnel with budget and personnel/information processing methods. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. A 40-hour work week is typical for this position. Physical Demands The work is sedentary, being performed for the most part in an office or conference room while seated at a desk or table. The incumbent may be required to lift and carry books, files, documents, records, and working papers. A moderate amount of walking and standing is required in getting to and from meeting/conference sites away from the work site. Incumbent works with information processing workstations. Intense concentration and performance of duties at maximum capability is required to meet deadlines. Work Environment Work is performed in a properly heated, ventilated, air conditioned, and well-lighted office setting. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
