Summary About the Position: Works directly for the Chief, Navigation Support Branch in the conduct of administrative, personnel support, and property management matters. This is a temporary position not to exceed 1 year, can be extended for a total of three years. This is a part-time position not to exceed 32 per week/64 hours per pay period. Responsibilities Perform administrative management functions enabling the organization to control a variety of personnel matters, training, information management, travel, safety, timekeeping, supplies, correspondence, telephone, security, and records disposition. Assist supervisors by explaining policies and procedures, identifying possible courses of action, and referring them to staff specialist when appropriate. Receive visitors and calls to the Navigation Support Branch, responding to requests for information and action that can be provided from own knowledge. Compose correspondence, reports, and reply assuring proper format, grammatical accuracy, consistency and presence of enclosures or attachments. Specialized Experience: : 1) using knowledge of organizational structure, mission, and function to respond to incoming calls, greet visitors and/or refer to appropriate staff; 2) perform administrative and/or clerical duties for office automation by relying on established guidance and procedures; 3) plan, coordinate, and/or disseminate information in response to inquiries from various contacts; 4) prepare correspondence and/or reports using proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Conscientiousness Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Reasoning (Clerical/Technical) Writing Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
