Summary The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as an Administrative Support Assistant. Duty Location: Folsom, California Responsibilities - Prepares a variety of correspondence, reports, statements, and other pertinent documentation. - Assists customers, answers phone calls, and relays important messages to supported personnel. - Sorts and files documents in accordance with established administrative procedures and practices. - Assists with the in-processing of new personnel; ensures all required forms are completed and signed, etc. - Operates office equipment such as multi-function printers, desktop computers, and a multi-line telephone system. - Uses office automation software applications for word processing, filing, scheduling, and other related tasks. - Performs other duties as assigned within this classification. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. Qualifications To be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement. This information must be clearly supported in your resume. To qualify for the GS-5: You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service, having demonstrated (but not limited to) the following: preparing memorandums, reports, and/or other related documents; performing data entry tasks or assisting with database records maintenance; sorting and filing documents in accordance with authorized procedures and practices; assisting with ordering office supplies; receiving mail items and ensuring proper routing of mail items. This definition of specialized experience represents typical work performed at the next lower grade level in the Federal service (GS-4). You could otherwise qualify based on education having completed four years of education above high school. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 07/05/2024. Education This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-5 grade level.
