Class Summary
Job Description
This position provides a wide variety of administrative support duties to the Office of Professional Standards (OPS) which is comprised of the Background Investigations and Recruiting units. These units are responsible for filling vacant sworn and non-sworn positions.
Essential Duties
+ Provides administrative support such as coordinating meetings & agendas.
+ Edits and prepares newsletters, brochures and basic reports.
+ Researches and keys information in department reporting systems.
+ Maintains and updates records associated with Police Services recruitment.
+ Performs background checks.
+ Prepares and processes personnel transaction forms.
+ Verifies timesheets, tracks performance evaluations, and maintains other related personnel information.
+ Performs basic office duties such as answering phones, copying, filing, faxing, distributing mail.
Grade & Salary
The grade for this position is B21(1).
Minimum Qualifications
+ High School Diploma, or G.E.D.;
+ Two (2) years of administrative support or related office experience;
+ Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above;
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience using an Applicant Tracking Tool, such as Neogov or other tool.
+ Advanced Microsoft skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)

+ This position may require travel up to 6 times a year.
+ This is a civilian position in a public safety department. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background check is required to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and finger printing.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
