About the Office of Medical Education The Corewell Health Lakeland Office of Medical Education (OME) focuses on postgraduate training of medical professionals including medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers. The OME serves as a base campus for 3 rd and 4 th year medical students from Central Michigan University School of Medicine and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The OME Department also houses Graduate Medical Education residency programs in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Emergency Medicine. Graduate Medical Education (GME) is the period of time after medical school where physicians train in their desired specialty under the supervision of faculty physicians. About Corewell Health South Hospitals The health system comprises three hospitals, a regional cancer center, rehabilitation centers, two long-term care residences, home care and hospice services, and 34 affiliate physician practice locations.
