Summary You will serve as an Administrative/Technical Specialist (Team Lead Technical Writer/Editor) in the Manufacturing Quality Office (MQ) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $156,755). Responsibilities You will independently plan, schedule, and coordinate writing and editing a variety of technical standard operating procedures, manuals and technical reports related to ordnance and weapon systems. You will consult and collaborate with engineers, technicians, explosive workers, safety, etc in creating technical documents. You will lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. You will make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks. You will provide or arrange for specific administrative or technical training necessary for accomplishment of individual and team tasks. You will monitor and report on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met. You will represent the team in dealings with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources, and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise. You will report to the supervisor periodically on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, progress in mastering tasks and work processes, and individual and team training needs. You will lead the team in assessing its strengths and weaknesses and provide leadership to the team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made, e.g., in work methods, processes and procedures. You will intercede with the supervisor on behalf of the team to inform the supervisor of performance management issues/problems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, scheduling, and coordinating writing and editing a variety of technical standard operating procedures, manuals or technical reports for use in energetic operations.
