Description
The Admissions Director is a professional staff member responsible for traveling to various high schools, college fairs, and industry partners to provide information to potential students to try and motivate them to apply to BridgeValley. Additional responsibilities include assisting in recruitment efforts by giving input to admissions public relations campaigns, as well as supervising and directing the work activities of other support staff and student workers assigned to the unit. This position manages the majority of the technical aspects of the department that include managing the email and texting platforms, managing the recruitment module and training others in its use, managing the Communications Relationship Management (CRM) and training others in its use, merging mail communications, and training new employees on the use of Banner. The position also requires coordination with academic deans in program areas that are competitive admission programs to provide accurate, timely, and anonymized application data for those programs to make informed admissions decisions.
The role requires the ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with college faculty, staff, administrations, students, and members of the community and the public. Work is performed under general direction, working from established policies and objectives.
Problems faced in this position are varied and often complex, which may require novel and creative approaches to resolution. New concepts and approaches may have to be developed. This position exercises judgment in prioritizing, planning, and organizing one’s own work within time, process, and results requirements; has some flexibility to modify workflow based on need and circumstances. Decisions contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the division/entire institution and errors could easily result in major costs, problems, and disruptions within the affected area. A flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends may be required during peak admissions periods. Actual salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.
Examples of Duties
+ Design and implement multi-year strategic recruitment plans directed to attract targeted cohorts to the College
+ Direct overall activities relating to the admission and recruiting functions of the College
+ Supervise three Admissions Counselors, an Enrollment Services Assistant, AmeriCorps Staff member, and work-study students. Hires, evaluates, trains, disciplines and recommends dismissal of staff as necessary
+ Train all new employees in Admissions on all digital platforms used by the department
+ Primary Designated School official (PDSO) for International Students
+ Manage the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
+ Lead the admissions office and is the primary admissions POC for all necessary internal and external meetings and events
+ Collaborate with the VP of Student Affairs
+ Manage college technical communication and data platforms for admission
+ Manage the Recruitment Module w/in Banner and trains employees in its use
+ Manage the texting platform for Admissions and Financial Aid
+ Develop and manages the communication plans in the College’s CRM system
+ Collect and analyze a variety of complex data and information. Prepares recurring management reports regarding recruitment and admissions and other reports to revise recruitment plans
+ Develop, organize, implement, and evaluate the functions of the student recruitment, admissions, and registration processes
+ Coordinate with other college administrators for efficient and effective recruitment systems to achieve student success as well as the college mission, goals, and strategic plan
+ Develop informational materials both print and digitally in conjunction with Marketing and VP of Students Affairs to engage and recruit prospective students
+ Stay current on student recruitment best practices
+ Manage operational budget for admissions
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
+ Five years’ progressively responsible experience of working in college admissions and recruitment or marketing/communication
+ Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
+ Valid driver’s license
+ Excellent communication skills
+ Knowledge of computer information systems (i.e. Banner)
+ Excellent interpersonal skills
+ Ability to train staff, troubleshoot, and problem solve
+ Knowledge of state and federal regulations and policies, AACRAO guidelines, etc.
+ Organizational skills and excellent analytical skills
