Admissions Summer Intern (Summer 2025 900669)

The Admissions Office seeks four to six students to serve as Admissions Summer Interns. The Summer Intern’s primary responsibility is to represent Middlebury College to visiting prospective students and families. Admissions Interns conduct daily tours of the campus Monday through Saturday and assist in greeting visitors to campus, answering phone calls, and responding to emails. This is a full-time position that requires at least 33 hours per week in-person availability. On campus housing is included with this position.  

Qualifications: 

Admissions Summer Interns are often the only current Middlebury students with whom our visitors interact during their summer campus visits. Ideal candidates should be able to relate to visitors who may have interests that differ from theirs and who can represent a wide array of experiences at Middlebury. Summer Interns are expected to be professional, enthusiastic, positive, motivated, personable, and responsible. Admissions Summer Interns must be able to maintain good stamina and stay upbeat throughout the summer. 

Responsibilities: 

• Conduct campus tours to prospective students and families, twice a day, Monday through Friday and on a few Saturday mornings.  

• Commit to the full thirteen weeks of the position (May 23rd - Aug. 23rd) including three to four Saturday mornings. One week of time off is permitted prior to mid-July. Any additional time off must be approved at the beginning of the summer, with coordination with other summer interns and staffing levels in mind. 

• Greet campus visitors and serve as a resource for them during their campus visit. 

• Be on call for special in person visitors outside normal hours. 

• Assist with information sessions during business hours and evening hours remotely. 

• Handle confidential materials with discretion. 

• Participate in outreach to prospective students and community-based organizations. 

• Assist communications team with admissions initiatives. 

• Answer phones, respond to emails, and answer live chats from prospective students and their families. 

• Facilitate group Q&A sessions with prospective students. 

• Collaborate with other Admissions Summer Interns. 

• Perform opening and closing responsibilities to the office. 

• Assist staff with various projects throughout the summer and compile updated information. 

• Perform general office tasks, such as photocopying, filing, sorting mail, running on-campus errands, and organizing office resources. 

Knowledge/Skills Desired: 

• Work well independently and show initiative to complete necessary work. 

• Previous Admissions experience preferred. 

• This position will require you to use your personal computer. 

 

We will be reviewing applications as submitted through February and the position will be closed once the position is filled. This position includes housing and dining hall access during the language school weeks.
