As a key team member, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Urology will contribute to improving access and outcomes for urology patients while supporting the growth of the service line.

Purpose
This position will deliver comprehensive healthcare services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care for patients with urological conditions.  Specifically, this provider will assist with a practice focusing on male infertility and men’s health. This role supports a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to improve outcomes. The role will also focus on patient education, promoting preventive care, and enhancing overall clinic efficiency.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history-taking, physical exams, and evaluations of patients with urological conditions in an outpatient clinic.

Diagnose, treat, and manage a variety of acute and chronic urological disorders with a focus on male infertility, hypogonadism, erectile dysfunction, testicular/pelvic pain as well as urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Perform office-based urology procedures such as catheter placements, urethral dilations, and bladder instillations plus additional specialized procedures based upon the provider’s interest.

Provide patient education on diagnostic findings, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care strategies.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure streamlined patient management and coordination of care.

Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system.

Participate in outpatient-focused quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinic operations and patient satisfaction.

Serve as a resource for clinical staff by providing guidance on urological care protocols and treatments.

Assist with urologic telehealth appointments and virtual care as needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited institution. Current board certification as a Physician Assistant (NCCPA) or Nurse Practitioner (ANCC/AANP). Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting. Proficient in diagnosing and managing common urological conditions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment. Licensure: Active and unrestricted Texas state license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, DEA certification for prescribing medications. Current BLS/ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Two or more years of experience specifically in outpatient urology. Familiarity with advanced diagnostic techniques, including cystoscopy and bladder ultrasounds. Training or certifications in specialized urology procedures. Experience in telemedicine and proficiency in EMR systems. Demonstrated participation in clinical research, quality improvement projects, or advanced education in urology.

Salary Range

$115,000+ depending on qualifications

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
