Pratt & Whitney has launched a strategic investment to build a single-crystal turbine airfoil casting foundry in our existing Asheville, NC facility. This new foundry will produce advanced (double wall) castings for our commercial and military programs.
This role will drive the detailed project schedule for standing up this strategic investment. In addition, this role needs to have the following additional skills to help facilitate strategic elements of our overall plan for the foundry:
What You Will Do:
Have a Master Black Belt and have trained a significant number of existing black belts (>20) successfully. This role will help to build process certification and process control elements into our whole organization to ensure that we hit our aggressive casting yield targets and that we execute on our MRL requirements. This will include working directly with our teams at Mikro Systems (Charlottesville, VA) and our development foundry (EH, CT) to build the same skill set into those teams as well.
Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of advanced double wall turbine airfoils and how they are cooled and function.
Have a deep understanding of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence methods and how best to use those in the new facility to take the digital data that we will generate and use it efficiently to drive process change and casting yield improvements rapidly.
Experience in Engineering, Finance and other areas to help us identify and manage risks during the stand up and qualification of the new foundry.
This role will be on-site in the new Asheville foundry but will directly support the other two sites mentioned above that are a part of our Advanced Casting Foundry team.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience to include manufacturing process, use of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods, manufacturing engineering or an Advanced Degree and 10 years of experience to include manufacturing process, use of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods, manufacturing engineering
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience working cross functionally to accomplish business objective
Ability to communicate with a wide audience and present information to senior leadership verbally and in writing
Experience leading teams both directly and indirectly

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
