About the Organization
The Lynn Turbofan Turbojet Engineering section provides technical leadership in the Systems and Design Engineering disciplines for the F414 and F404 product lines. Program responsibilities span the entire engineering lifecycle including New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and Sustaining programs for operational fleets. Current NPI programs include the F404-103 for the USAF Advanced Pilot Trainer, the F404-104 for the Hurjet Trainer, the F414-400K for the KF-21, and the F414-100 for NASA’s X-59 demonstrator. The Sustaining programs include production delivery, services engineering, and component improvement programs in support of the flying fleet of US Navy and international operators. The engineering team is dedicated to providing safe and reliable operation of the F414 and F404 engines in support of the Mission of our customers … and continuing to be the engine of choice in this thrust class.

About the Position
This module design engineer will contribute to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems for the cold section of low bypass turbofan engines. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components as well as support of new product offerings. Impacts quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the broader cold section team. Has input into team priorities and resource allocation, working with the Cold Section module leader to execute on strategies for broader team execution. The role will have design impact on the fan and compressor modules of the engine.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.This work focuses on mechanical design engineering and module leadership and strategy.Uses strong judgment to make decisions or solve highly complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.  Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources to arrive at decisions.Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.  Will lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.  Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.  Persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.Will work closely with the Project and Systems team as the design leader to ensure efficient execution of projects support product safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Work with the Cold Section Manager to develop and execute a strategy for the improved operational rigor of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's or advanced degree in EngineeringA minimum of 3 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace EngineeringA minimum of 5 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.Demonstrated expertise in  design and analysis tools, such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS classic.Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Ability to guide and influence others.Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.A high competency in matrixed organizationDemonstrated ability in critical thinking and complex problem solving.
