The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Automation/Robotics is responsible for working with our MR Coils business to identify, define, develop, and deliver automation applications, utilizing key suppliers and integrators in deploying solutions for existing product lines, NPI’s (New Product Introductions) and product transfers. Identifying new technologies and solutions, deploying these applications, and supporting our manufacturing engineering teams within our MR RF Coil business will be a vital in delivering innovative solutions and productivity. Key responsibilities/essential functions include:
The scope of automation will cover both Fixed and Collaborative automation including all supporting automation technologies.Work with the MR Coils mfg. sites to define/develop/design automation concepts, work with key vendors/integrators to deliver cutting edge solutions, perform proof of concepts, and work with the local teams to deploy automation into production.Will work to identify high ROI applications, conducting feasibility studies, and DOE’s (design of experiments) to develop concepts and reduce risk in automation.Lead, manage, and develop key automation solutions for NPI, product transfer programs, and critical mfg. productivity projects.Support Industry 4.0 initiatives for machine connectivity and our digital transformation driving data driven decisions and efficient mfg. operations.Support the effort to create standard automation Equipment/User Requirement Specifications to further drive component standardization, data standards for brilliant factories, and standard safety risk assessments.Work extensively to leverage and project manage outside vendors/integrators to deliver automation solutions to our various manufacturing plants.Research’s, studies, and proposes use of new technologies, processes, and industry trends, helping GEHC stay current with new automation innovations.Create training materials, provide technical training on automation process technologies, and take part in training deployment strategies across the business.Applying creative solutions and ideas, driving productivity and quality in the manufacturing of our products utilizing key automation technologies like collaborative robots, AI, AIV’s, and traditional automation techniques.Be a part of our New Product Introduction process (NPI’s) to influence designs to incorporate design for automation standards so low-cost solutions are part of initial production release. Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems for document control, design transfer, verification, validation, and acceptance criteria for automation equipment in a regulated environment.The scope of Automation Processes includes Electronics Assembly Automation, Collaborative Robots (Universal Robots, Omron, Fanuc, ABB...), Fixed automation, digital torque, Visual 2 & 3D Inspection, OEE, digital dash boards, Autonomous Intelligent Vehicles (AIV’s), Data Collection, AI, general automation technologies, integration of PLC’s, HMI’s, Motion, and supporting our Brilliant Factory initiatives by connecting the physical process to digital information.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Automation, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical degree.3+ years’ experience in using, applying, and deploying various automation technologies from concept phase thru final implementation into production.Demonstrated program or project management skills of internal/external integrators.Demonstrated experience owning production processes / growing capability in yield, quality, and capacity.Experience developing technical documents - ability to write / perform FMEA’s, Equipment Risk Assessments, ERS’s (Equipment Requirements Specifications), Validation Plans.Experience with controls automation design and safety standards; AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent, NFPA 79, RIA15.06, and other relevant industry standards.Demonstrated troubleshooting, analytical and planning skills.Domain expertise in the automation and controls technologies field.Ability to work independently across our diverse business and manufacturing lines.Demonstrate strong communication skills (written and verbal) to all levels of the organization.Ability to identify and implement Best Practices.Willing to travel domestic and internationally up to 25% of the time.Desirable Skills:
