Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities:

This individual will be responsible for the concept, specification, and implementation of automated equipment. Applicant must be capable of analyzing current processes to identify critical elements to ensure successful design and implementation of new automated equipment. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. 

Manage equipment specification, design review, installation, and setup into production. Drive machine qualification, including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK), and Gage Repeatability / Reproducibility (GR&R). Create and manage Request for Quotation/Proposal (RFQ/RFPs) detailing automated equipment design requirements, delivery schedule, necessary documentation, and qualification for acceptance both at the machine supplier's facility and the contract manufacturer's factory. Organize and lead cross-functional reviews to evaluate machine requirements, design, qualification, and capability. Analyze data and prepare reports to communicate machine capability to multidisciplinary teams and customers. Investigate and determine the root cause of equipment and system test failures. Execute equipment design and process qualification/verification activities to approve machines (Factory Acceptance Testing/Site Acceptance Testing). Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment. Prepare manufacturing documentation. Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and provide technical support. Design systems and layouts adhering to lean manufacturing principles, such as one-piece flow and Kanban, with an emphasis on mistake-proofing. Lead meetings with team members and provide training and guidance to all employee levels on operating and maintaining new automated equipment and systems. Execute other related duties as required.

 

 

Qualifications – External/internal:

Lean manufacturing practices (Kanban, Poke-Yoke, Value Stream Mapping) Tool and fixture design and GD&T Strong Project Management skills Machine specification, qualification procedure, and report writing Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities Design and application knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards Solidworks/MS Office suite Strong Communication skills (written and public speaking)

 

 

Education and Experience:

BS in Engineering or equivalent. Manufacturing Engineering from a four-year college or university; or 5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Manufacturing Engineer with 5-10 years of experience
