You will be the Aerospace Design/Development Engineer for our cutting-edge engineering team. Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and testing innovative aerospace solutions for IRAD projects and contracted programs.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Aerospace Design/Development Engineer, you will be responsible for creating concept layouts, 3-D models, and detailed 2-D drawings to support the design and development of component parts, mechanical test articles, and integration test articles. You will work closely with other engineering and manufacturing groups to ensure seamless coordination and collaboration.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Developing CREO/Pro-E concept layouts, 3-D models, and detailed 2-D drawings
• Coordinating with other engineering and manufacturing groups, including systems requirements engineering, materials and process engineering, and manufacturing engineering
• Designing and/or overseeing the design of prototype/development tooling for composites
• Processing testing of polymeric materials, structural adhesive bonding, and composite repair and fabrication
• Assembling engineering prototype hardware and testing its functionality
• Creating engineering change requests and notices of revisions as needed

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering, with an emphasis in metallurgy, failure analysis, and mechanical testing of materials
• Demonstrated experience with the use of calibration and safe operation of a least two types of advance laboratory equipment devices such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), micro hardness testing, and fractographic saws and polishers.
• Experience developing and documenting standard laboratory processes
• Experience with scheduling, deconflicting, coordinating, and executing multiple technical activities
• Proficient in team communication, scheduling, data transferring, and project documentation
• Experience in hands-on testing and evaluation of material, finishes and hardware/material
• Able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Skills:
• Advance knowledge of metallurgical concepts such as material microstructures, fracture toughness, preparation of material cross sections, different classes of metallic alloys such as stainless steels, aluminum alloys, titanium, etc.
• Working knowledge of a variety of laboratory testing techniques such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), optical microscopy, laser confocal microscopy, micro hardness testing, and fractographic saws and polishers
• Good detail-oriented analysis and problem-solving skills and experience utilizing multiple analytical techniques to solve material related failure analysis
• Familiarity with specifications standards related to metallurgical testing and mechanical testing of materials.
• Good writing and verbal communication skills

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
