Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Rotating Equipment)
As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Rotating Equipment) here at Honeywell, you will utilize your expertise in mechanical design and engineering principles to develop innovative solutions for our customers. You will be responsible for designing and optimizing rotating equipment, such as pumps, compressors, and turbines, to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Collaborating with a team of engineers, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge products and driving technological advancements in the field of rotating equipment.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Des Plaines, IL location on a hybrid work schedule, except for the first 90 days.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on Honeywell by designing and developing high-performance rotating equipment that meets customer requirements and industry standards. Your expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and testing will contribute to the success of our products and the satisfaction of our customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\n\nSpecification of rotating equipment for LNG applicationsGenerating requisitions for various types of rotating equipment such as hot centrifugal fans and blowers, pumps, and compressors\n\n\nIncorporating applicable code and customer requirements in order to produce a complete technical definition of the equipment\nAssuming the primary liaison role with various outside suppliers\nTechnically evaluating bids and participating in the supplier selection process\nReviewing supplier designs against licensor requirements, code requirements, and customer requirements\nCoordinating with suppliers throughout the fabrication phase of the project\nVisiting shops for kickoff meetings, critical inspections, and in order to provide feedback to improve future designs\nWorking closely with all members of the project team including quality assurance, piping, instrumentation, electrical, process, structural designers, purchasing personnel, and project managers to meet project requirements for rotating equipment.\nStaying current with applicable API standards for pumps and compressors\nTroubleshoot design issues and issue resolution.\nWorking with team to update infrastructure.\nProvide sales support to review customer specifications and provide cost estimates for static equipment.YOU MUST HAVE
\n Bachelor’s\ndegree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the\nsciences, technology, engineering or mathematicsExperience in rotating equipment design and specifications\nfor LNG applications. \n\nExperience in the specification of rotating equipment is required\nExperience with High Temperature Centrifugal Fans / Blowers is a plus\nExperience with pumps, compressors, lube oil systems, and seals is a plus\nExperience in an equipment manufacturing environment is a plus\nGood working knowledge and use of the following software applications is desired: Adobe Acrobat Standard and Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, Power Point)\nOrganizational skills desired include a disciplined approach to maintaining project files for team use and good documentation of correspondence and issue resolution\nCapable of multi-tasking to maintain contributions on schedule for several projects simultaneously\nAbility to communicate well with suppliers in both written and verbal communication is desired\nAbility to work well in a team environment and provide proper updating of Project managers, Project Engineers, and Procurement of status of requisitions and document reviews\n\nWE VALUE
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with rotating equipment design for industrial applications.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to rotating equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
