Summary:

The Advanced Medical Assistant is a highly trained health care delivery person. This person will have experience receiving instructions from physicians and nurses to perform delegated clinical and clerical activities.The Advanced Medical Assistant will not be expected or permitted to make independent medical decisions. The Advanced Medical Assistant will be operating the point of care laboratory equipment and performing intake tasks for various specialties. The Advanced Medical Assistant will be expected to draw blood as trained using proper technique and test samples of the the blood as needed. This person will be required to enter patient information into a computer system and report variations from previous exams to the nurse or physician via the EMR. This person must be articulate and capable of projecting a positive image of the clinic and the Riverside Medical Center organization. When an emergency occurs this person must be capable of assisting the Oncology Certified Nurse through his/her instruction and within his/her scope of practice as an Advance Medical Assistant. Basic CPR is a required skill.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree preferredExcellent verbal and writing skillsAbility to organizeFamiliar with Medical TerminologyTyping, computers, and calculations EKG tracings preferred, Phlebotomy experience preferredMust be able to type 35WPM

License or Certification Requirements:

CPR certified/ACLS certified

 

 

Responsibilities:

Ability to start an IV as well as perform phlebotomy.Assist physicians during examinations.Perform height, weight, blood pressure test as appropriate.Perform other tasks as directed by the Physician, Registered Nurse or the Site Manager.Perform phlebotomy at off site locations as needed.Scanning patient documents into Aria and properly assigning the pateint document to the correct area in the patients' electronic medical record.Test blood in accordance with training provided by Laboratory supervisory personnel.Their competency will be reviewed at frequent intervals by the Registered Nurse To Perform EKGs tracings.
