**Responsibilities**
**JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE**
The Medical Assistant Advanced will support assigned physician or physicians with patient care and clinical documentation into the electronic medical records in an efficient manner. Accurately performs ancillary healthcare services while assisting the physician through documentation of specific components of the patient visit and executing specified physician instructions.
**ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
● Perform general patient care services including, but not limited to, admission interview, accurate documentation and timely patient flow.
● Ensure priority care is provided to patients in an emergency situation.
● Assist healthcare providers with exams, treatments, procedures and testing as directed.
● Accompany the physician into the exam room for the patient visit documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) all aspects of care including, but not limited to, chief complaint , history of presenting illness, physical exam and patient plan as directed by the physician.
● Ensure optimization of physician practice by keeping current with EMR flow and templates.
● Schedule and provide patient instruction(s) for tests, treatments and hospital admissions, following correct insurance protocol. (i.e. pre-certification, referrals, chart documentation, etc.)
● Accurately perform basic calculations for appropriate dose, safely prepares and administers prescribed medications, as ordered by the healthcare provider.
● Perform phlebotomy, lab procedures and communicate results to the patient as ordered by the provider.
● Provide patient and family education pertaining to healthcare management, disease process, treatment, test(s), medication and follow-up under direct supervision of the health care provider. Maintain and update patient education materials and consent forms.
● Calculate visit estimate for prompt payment. Explain to the patient the visit estimate, prompt pay discount, and payment plan as needed. Collect visit payment.
● Ensure the patient is appropriately prepared for a care encounter. Prepare and obtain patient medical records and other information/documentation pertinent to patient encounter.
● Receive, prioritize, document and respond to incoming calls as appropriate
● Notify patients of lab and diagnostic test results under the direct supervision of the health care provider.
● Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in clinic meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs.
● Maintain compliance with established departmental and organizational policies, procedures and objectives concerning quality improvement, safety, environmental conditions, and infection control.
● May be performing similar duties in a hospital setting.
● Assist in training new staff.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the practice manager or as requested by healthcare provider(s).

**Qualifications**
Required Education and Experience
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required.
+ Five (5) years’ related experience required.
Required Licensure and Certifications
+ Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required.
**Pay Range**
$17.89 - $24.60 /hour
