Inova Medical House Calls is looking for a Nurse Practitioner to support our communities in Northern Virginia. The Medical House Calls program brings primary care into the homes of adults over the age of 65 who cannot drive and reside within the program’s extensive 52 zip code coverage area. The Medical House Calls program is comprised of a passionate and mission driven interdisciplinary team and Our goal is to provide quality care while supporting aging in place and optimizing resource utilization. Provides safe and effective care to ambulatory patients under the supervision of a collaborating physician. Utilizes independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and provision of ongoing care to ambulatory patients that is in accordance with nurse practitioner licensure regulations for the Commonwealth of Virginia and delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for Nurse Practitioner.

Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Job Responsibilities:

Works in collaboration with the GI Physicians attending to provide care in gastroenterology services. Management of various GI disease processes such as GERD, PUD, GI bleeding, esophageal and variceal bleeding, GI cancers, crohn’s disease, IBS, and other GI related illness/ conditions.  Performs new consultations, patient follow ups, daily rounding and procedure triaging. Writes/ dictates history and physical notes, consult, and daily notes.  Prescribes/ orders medications, therapies, diet, orders and interprets laboratory and imaging studies as well as procedures consistent with clinical privileges. Performs patient counseling/ comprehensive teaching, consenting, and preparation for GI procedures to be performed in the inpatient setting.  Performs procedures as trained and delineated in DOP/ privileges. Ensure key quality metrics are optimized. Participates in quality improvement projects as assigned. Accurate and complete billing for services provided.

Work schedule: Varies shift (Monday – Sunday days, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) Education: Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment.  Certification: Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification), DEA and BLS
