Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

An Advanced Practice Provider Fellow is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who spends a year gaining in-depth oncology training/education and provides evaluation and medical management to patients at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.  All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician.

To apply, you must be a student or graduate of an accredited PA or NP program and have graduated at least three months prior to the program start date (November 3, 2025). If you are a student, this allows time to complete your exams, licensure and credentialing. To qualify, you must:

Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university (a clinical or health-related master’s degree is preferred)If you are a PA: Have passed or be eligible to take the NCCPA examinationIf you are an adult, FNP or acute care NP: Have passed or be eligible to take the AANP or ANCC certification examinationObtain Washington state licensure before the November 1, 2025 program start date

*If less than 2 years of NP/PA experience, one of the letters is required from your Program Director.

Qualifications Excellent communication and clinical skills necessary to ensure optimum patient care outcomes in a complex care environment. Ability to effectively and compassionately communicate information about disease processes, prognosis, trajectory and care options as defined by the primary oncology team; clarify patient and family goals and preferences for care; discuss palliative and end of life treatment options; and discussion and management of treatment (both oncology and palliative) toxicities to patients and family caregivers. Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to the ethics of good character, humility, and servant leadershipMotivated, self-reflective clinician who participates in self-evaluation and education and responds well to critiques.Must be a current student or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.Washington state licensure required.DEA required at time of credentialing.Basic computer skills are essential.

The annual base salary range for this position is $94,000.
