Advanced Practice Provider Inpatient Neurosurgery
Overview Excellent opportunity to join a team-oriented group of APPs and Neurosurgeons caring for neurosurgical patients at a Level 2 Trauma Center located in beautiful Bloomington, IL. Practice consists of 3 primary and 2 current APP with plans to expand to 4 neurosurgeons and 4 APP team to support a full neurosurgical inpatient coverage model as well as flexible coverage for outpatient (if needed). Our neurosurgical program is committed to educating, training, and mentoring APPs. Includes a $10,000 sign on bonus. Position Details: 5 day work week, 8 hour (variable schedule) with one weekend obligation (2-3 shifts per month) Predominantly inpatient service management with outpatient coverage as needed The Acute Care PA or APRN performs the following tasks: Obtain a patient history Perform a physical examination Conduct a comprehensive assessment Order, conduct and interpret diagnostic tests Formulate a diagnostic impression Develop and implement a treatment plan Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions Prescribe pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies Facilitate appropriate consultations and referrals Provide counseling and education to meet patient needs Serve as a first assist in surgery, (will provide training and education) Participate in research initiatives Participate in quality improvement initiatives Comply with all required hospital compliance policies involving Quality care Cost savings Timely and up-to-date documentation of medical records Practice Model: 3 primary neurosurgeons + 5 rotating neurosurgeon coverage MD and APP service with plans for Neurosurgery Residency expansion Elective volume; 80:20 spine Qualifications Requirements Qualifications: Current Illinois license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Certification by a national certifying body as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Master’s degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies BLS, ACLS, ENLS certification (can help acquire) Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications At least one year of acute care and/or surgical first assist experience in neurosurgery or related field OSF Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer
