All while understanding that together we are even better. **Schedule:** Full Time **Shift:** Days **Location:** 601 EAST ROLLINS STREET, Orlando, 32803 **The community you’ll be caring for:** AdventHealth Orlando + Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando + Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America + AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country + We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year **The role you’ll contribute:** The Lead Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Physician Assistant (PA) provides coordination of scheduling and staffing, and on-boarding of new APRNs/PAs to the team. Leads evidenced-based practice protocol development as well as provides one point of contact for the APP Manager/Supervisor to communicate bi-directionally with the team. The Lead APP uses competency as a team member in comprehensive primary, acute and extended-care services in the area of nursing and medicine for individuals and their families as outlined in the Collaborative Practice Agreement. The Lead APP has prescriptive authority in the State of Florida under a practice agreement with a supervising physician, which includes ordering, conducting, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing. Identifies patients’ alterations in health, assesses response to treatment, communicating appropriate data, implements nursing intervention and prepares for potential complications. The Lead APP supports the clinical operation of the department with primary focus on clinical services. Coordinates delivery of patient care in collaboration with the physician. Adheres to Advent Health’s Corporate Compliance Plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. **The value you’ll bring to the team:** + Provides oversight of staffing and scheduling for the assigned APP team.Provides coordination and oversight of on-boarding for new APRN’s/PAs to the assigned team. + Assists Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute’s (HLVI) APP Manager or Supervisor with input on annual evaluations. + In collaboration with Medical Director, leadership, leads the development of evidenced-based protocols for the treatment of patients. + Meets with HLVI APP Manager or Supervisor on a monthly basis to communicate needs of the team and receive updates from leadership.Meets monthly to communicate and work on performance improvement. + Performs complex assessments of patients’ health status through physical exam reviews, patients’ histories, diagnostic tests and procedures, lab results and other critical data.Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams.Initiates orders for medications, laboratory and other diagnostic testing and medical treatments on appropriate forms.Facilitates optimal length of stay and appropriate utilization of Hospital resources.Facilitates efficient and comprehensive discharge planning.Promotes inpatient throughput. Writes and/or dictates progress notes, procedure notes, histories, physical examinations, and transfers/discharge summaries in accordance with medical policies. Qualifications **The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:** + If APRN - Master of Science degree in Nursing + If PA- Graduate of a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) + Minimum of two years of acute care Cardiothoracic/Cardiovascular APRN/PA experience + Minimum 1 year experience as a Supervisor, assistant nurse manager or nurse manager experience OR leadership experience in an acute-care setting + Current, valid State of Florida license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant + Prescriptive authority for the State of Florida + Physician Assistants-Certified (PA-C) OR National Nurse Practitioner certification by either: American Nurses Credentialing Center (http://www.nursecredentialing.org/) (ANCC) **_OR_** American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (http://www.aanp.org/aanpcms2) (AANP), unless grandfathered under certificate-based program + Current, valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) + Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
