Short DescriptionAdvanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Trauma
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment & Management: Perform comprehensive assessments of critically injured trauma patients, develop and implement treatment plans, monitor progress, and adjust care as needed in collaboration with attending physicians. Critical Care Procedures: Perform bedside procedures such as arterial line insertion, central line insertion, intubation, chest tube placement, suturing, and wound care management.Coordination of Care: Work closely with trauma surgeons, critical care intensivists, surgery and emergency medicine residents, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for critically injured patients.Patient Monitoring: Continuously evaluate patient condition, monitor vital signs, and interpret lab results, diagnostic imaging, and other data to guide treatment decisions, including ventilator management, ICP interpretation, IV sedation management, chest tube management and drain management.Family Communication: Provide education and emotional support to patients' families, ensuring they are well-informed about the patient's condition, treatment options, and prognosis.Clinical Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate electronic medical records (EMRs) of patient care, including assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes.Leadership & Education: Serve as a clinical leader through nursing staff education and contribute to the training of students and residents as needed.Continuous Improvement: Participate in trauma and critical care quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with best practices in trauma care.
Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Experience RequiredMinimum 2-3 years of experience in trauma, emergency medicine, surgery or critical care settings preferred. Experience in performing advanced procedures in the ICU or trauma unit is highly desirable.
Education RequirementsMASTERS - Nursing or Physician Assistant required.
License/Certification RequirementsLicense (or Certification): BLS Required; License (or Certification): NJ-Advanced Practice Provider - APN and NJ-Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant required.
Special RequirementsScheduled Days / Hours: Per Diem – As needed.
