Job Summary
The Advanced Quality Engineer II (AQE) will elevate quality as competitive advantage and drive brand loyalty by ensuring high product quality from design through production. The AQE will direct high volume consumer good product (plumbing industry), process and design quality activities and will advance leading practices to provide predictable results and excellent customer experiences. The AQE plays a strategic role in the New Product Introduction (NPI) Milestones development and implementation of Quality tools. The AQE proactively leads the NPI QA process through the enforcement of applicable quality tools and manages critical milestones throughout the NPI cycles. The AQE provides leadership in product process and reliability functions to Sourced Finish Good Suppliers. The AQE also leads the gathering, analyzing, and reporting of key metrics, establishes prioritization of related actions to cross-functional teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the quality leader on New Product Introduction/Sustaining Program to ensure timely launch per HHI's Milestone Processes in a multi-function environment. Leads the execution of Product or Part Qualification Process, including Control Plans, PFMEA, Capability Analysis, 5F’s, FAI’s and reliability testing, as well as active collaboration in the implementation of key steps of the Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) Methodologies such as Voice of the Customer, customer field data analysis, Critical to Quality (CTQ) identification, and Design for Excellence assessments (e.g. Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, Design for Testing). Acts as a Liaison between the company and customers regarding quality concerns Prioritizes and triage customer issues using risk and data alignment with strategic imperatives. Determine, prioritize, align, and communicate customer, business, and shipment impacts relating to specific quality and product safety issues with cross-functional teams. Manages suppliers as required to baseline supplier production and quality systems and propose related system improvements. Proactive leadership in reviewing quality data and identification of trends affecting quality, warranty costs and Customer Satisfaction. Establish Metrics to meet future QA vision and mission goals. Leads projects focused on functional business processes that influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost-effectiveness, and product/system quality. Leads and executes Tear Down Failure Analysis activities on failure returns from the field and generate appropriate Failure Analysis reports. Participates in the audit of component manufacturing, finishing, packaging of finished goods, and all associated process controls in support of NPI projects across the supplier base.
Education and Training
Bachelors degree in Material Science, Mechanical, Industrial, Process Engineering or closely related. 3 plus years of quality engineering experience and responsibilities Consumer Product (Plumbing/fluid handling) experience in high volume environment highly preferred Working with Asian Suppliers and Sourced Finished Goods environment is a plus ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
Required Skills
Ability to read technical drawings, understand and implement control plans, inspection plans, and value improvement efforts. Extensive knowledge of GD&T measurement instrumentation, including optical and handheld measuring equipment. Proven experience using 8D and/or DMAIC lean six sigma methodology for closing Corrective & Preventive Actions. Proven experience leading and facilitating cross functional Kaizen/Workshops on new product or process development. Preferred experience with Design for Six Sigma Tools (QFD, CTQ Flowdown & Measurement Systems, DOE, DFR, DFM, etc.) Experience with APQP process (PPAPs, Control Plans, FMEA, etc.) is preferred. Excellent leadership & interpersonal skills along with the ability to work with others positively. Strong communicator both written and oral.
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Hybrid work in office 3 days/week. Up to 15% domestic and international travel
Pay Range: $ $78,140-$114,605.
This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
