The role involves working on critical systems such as PCOS, CCQAS, DMHRSi, EAS IV, ESSENCE, and PHIMT, which are essential for managing healthcare claims, provider credentialing, human resources, cost allocation, disease surveillance, and health information management. This role is crucial in driving innovation and implementing advanced technological solutions to enhance the capabilities of the Military Health System. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Advanced Technology Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing complex, high-impact technology projects from inception to completion. Key responsibilities include: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of advanced technology projects within the MHS ecosystem. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies with potential applications in military healthcare. Develop project charters, schedules, budgets, and resource plans for innovative initiatives. Manage cross-functional teams of technical experts, stakeholders, and vendors. Coordinate with various departments and agencies to ensure alignment of advanced technology projects with organizational goals. Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed. Ensure compliance with government regulations, security requirements, and industry standards throughout project lifecycles. Prepare and present project status reports to senior leadership and stakeholders. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within project teams. Collaborate with research institutions and industry partners to leverage cutting-edge technologies. Oversee the integration of new technologies with existing MHS systems and processes. Contribute to the development of strategic technology roadmaps for the Defense Health Agency. Education and Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field with 10-12 years of experience in technology project management, or Master's degree in a relevant field with 8-10 years of experience in technology project management, or PhD in a relevant field with 5-7 years of experience in technology project management Required Skills and Competencies: Proven experience managing complex technology projects in large organizations Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) Experience with emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, IoT, or blockchain Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and standards Excellent leadership and team management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Exceptional communication and presentation skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively Experience with budget management and resource allocation Understanding of government procurement processes and regulations Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance Desired Skills and Competencies: Experience working in government or military healthcare environments PMP or other relevant project management certifications Knowledge of ITIL framework and IT service management principles Familiarity with data analytics and big data technologies Experience with cloud computing platforms and migration strategies Understanding of DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) Knowledge of telemedicine and remote patient monitoring technologies Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA) Experience with change management and organizational transformation Understanding of human-centered design principles and their application in healthcare technology Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
