Advisor, Clinical Laboratory

Job Description

Advises on laboratory testing activities. Plans, organizes and manages daily operations. Ensures materials and equipment needs are met and that sample turn-around-time is within acceptable limits. Develops and maintains methods to ensure employee validation and/or competency. Researches and implements solutions to issues relating to the processing and delivery of highly accurate and precise patient data. Strives to find solutions to enhance the delivery of data to clinicians.

Job Responsibility

 

1.Provides strategic advice and guidance to the Clinical Laboratory function.
2.Develops, and monitors operating policies and procedures for the clinical sections of the Central Laboratories; oversees daily function of the Chemistry/Hematology/Coagulation testing.
3.Assists in the coordination of robotics system enhancements for instrumentation, Laboratory design and organization; monitors and directs activities to enhance the delivery of results to clinicians.
4.Maintains current policy and procedure manual; reviews and revises as necessary; demonstrates understanding of all tests performed at the Central Laboratories and answers technical questions as necessary.
4.Oversees the preparation and justification of department budget for the major testing areas within the Central Laboratories; oversees the ordering and approval of supplies and inventory Assists in the direction of QA functions; assists in the development, evaluation and maintenance of QC/QA reporting.
5.Compiles monthly statistics for the Core Laboratory and submits reports as directed; investigates, prepares and responds to any incident issue that affects the production of patient data.
6.Directs/monitors external PT program.
7.Ensures compliance with regulatory standards governing the Clinical Lab.

Job Qualification

 

1.Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
2.Current License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
3.10+ years of technical experience and 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
