The Role

As the Southern CA Wildfire PSS Advisor, you’ll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will be responsible for identifying and supporting partner management, program implementation, reporting and monitoring Psychosocial programs including managing subawards and closeout, and collaborating on the overall recovery strategy for the impacted areas.  As a frontline representative of Save the Children, the position holder is required to ensure safety and protection of children and families that they come in contact with and represent the agency values of Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity and Integrity.

This position is funded for a period of 12 months, and will conclude employment with completion of the planned program activities associated with Save the Children’s California Wildfire Response.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Emergency Response Team (20%)

Collaborate with the Southern CA Wildfire response team to carry out the response and recovery plan Present updates to leadership team on a bi-weekly/monthly basis Work closely with response team lead to monitor grants and reach goals Provide technical input into grant proposals, as requested Facilitate visits with SCUS leadership and board members

Partnerships (30%)

Identify new child serving organizations to work with from wildfire impacted areas Maintain and manage existing partnerships to ensure the highest levels of support for their disaster recovery needs. Lead on the development of MOUs or subgrants with local partners implementing PSS programming Serve as the technical lead for Save the Children on any local working groups Ensure Save the Children is reaching the hardest to reach communities that have been impacted by the fires Serve as the Save the Children representative on any VOAD group calls or activities

Program Implementation & Monitoring (40%)

Serve as the technical lead and immediate point of contact for grant partners and implementing facilitators Manage facilitator trainings, fidelity checks and site visits Ensure program materials are supplied to partners. Order additional program kit materials and arrange delivery to partners as needed. Collaborate with partners to identify the recommended trainings and programs to support their identified needs Participate in related meetings to support psychosocial program efforts Provide logistical support for all trainings and workshops Provide inventory support and recordkeeping for program closeout Deliver PSS training content to meet programming needs based on current research and evidence-based best practices to state teams, implementation partners Track and report monthly and quarterly program reach information Lead data collection and evaluation from partners & input into MERL systems Manage program implementation and facilitator engagement Track and report program expenses

Grant Reporting (10%)

Collaborate with P&P on any mid to long-term grant reporting Collect and compile stories from implementing partners Collaborate with MERL to analyze reach and program outcome data. Ensure all final deliverables are achieved and reflected in final reporting

 

Required qualifications for the role

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience  Experience delivering training in multiple formats to a diverse set of participants Previous experience with psychoeducational programs for children Valid US Drivers License Professional proficiency in MS Office suite  Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred qualifications for the role

Professional proficiency in spoken and written Spanish Disaster response experience

 

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 – $94,050 base salary  Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 – $85,500 base salary  Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 – $76,950 base salary 

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
