Position Summary

Deloitte’s Real Estate Consulting practice is deeply committed to the real estate sector. Our mission is to assist clients in making informed real estate decisions throughout the entire lifecycle of their assets. We are currently seeking a professional to join our Lease Advisory Services team, a specialized subset of our practice dedicated to addressing client issues related to leased real estate.

As a member of our Real Estate Consulting team, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience by working alongside leading professionals across diverse industries. This role will enable you to build your professional skills through participation in a variety of projects. You will play a crucial role in helping our clients understand, analyze, and respond to various business opportunities and challenges that arise from real estate lease administration operations and key business and investment decisions.

Work you'll do

You will have the opportunity to work on projects to help advise clients to effectively manage real estate lease portfolios, lease administration, lease abstraction, lease database management, and financial reporting and focus on reducing occupancy costs across the portfolio through lease auditing services. You will leverage advanced, technology-enabled solutions to help our clients more confidently make decisions and execute on those decisions to drive performance. 

As part of our Lease Advisory Services team, you will engage in a variety of tasks and projects, including but not limited to:

Conducting thorough lease audits to ensure compliance and accuracy Extracting and summarizing critical information from lease and real estate documents for lease abstraction Validating data quality and integrity Performing lease administration consulting and outsourced services Supporting lease data management and other systems Performing lease data quality and integrity assessments Performing strategic lease positioning assessments, including net effective rent calculations, lease language reviews, and market research  Leading projects and communicating effectively both verbally and in writingAddressing complex issues with innovative solutions while efficiently prioritizing tasks, managing multiple assignments, and navigating ambiguous situationsPreparing client presentation materials.Training, mentoring, and overseeing less experienced professionals and staff

Our Deloitte Lease Advisory Services team comprises knowledgeable and experienced professionals dedicated to providing comprehensive lease advisory services. We assist clients in making informed decisions regarding their leased real estate assets, ensuring they maximize value and manage risks effectively. Our team supports clients in understanding, analyzing, and responding to various business opportunities and challenges presented by real estate transactions and key business and investment decisions. We offer a wide range of services, including lease audits, lease abstraction and validation, and lease administration consulting and outsourced services. Additionally, we provide critical insights and recommendations to optimize lease management and financial performance, ensuring compliance with accounting standards such as ASC 842.

Our services cover the full spectrum of lease advisory, from evaluating large and diverse lease portfolios to performing single-lease analyses. We handle numerous lease-related issues, including due diligence, market analyses, underwriting process evaluations, portfolio-related services, and complex lease analysis and administration. Our professionals frequently manage large portfolios of leased real estate assets on a regional, national, and even global basis, ensuring our clients receive the highest level of expertise and support. By leveraging our extensive experience and industry knowledge, our Lease Advisory Services team is committed to helping clients navigate the complexities of their leased real estate assets and achieve their strategic objectives.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business administration, or a related field3+ years of experience in commercial real estate, advisory, and/or applicable consulting involving complex commercial real estate leases and operationsFamiliarity with lease administration systems and/or IWMS systems such as CoStar, IBM Tririga, Lucernex, Manhattan One, Yardi, and/or MRI ProLeaseProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)Demonstrated ability to balance multiple client projects and other responsibilitiesProven experience in providing services involving accounting and business consulting projects, including participation in client presentationsAbility to develop project timelines with key milestones to meet client deadlinesExperience supervising, training, and developing junior staff on valuation and client requirements, as well as assessing staff performanceWillingness and ability to travel as required for client service engagements United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or any time in the future

Preferred

Experience performing lease audits and/or internal audits involving leased real estateProperty accounting and/or management experienceExperience performing technology-enabled real estate lease abstractionDesire to develop corporate real estate knowledge and experienceProfessional accreditations and certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and/or Certified Property Manager (CPM)

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York State and Jersey City, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Jersey City, and New York State and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,680 - $162,800. 

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
