AE 1107C Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) Engineer

Indianapolis, IN

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) Engineer to join the AE Defense team supporting Rolls-Royce AE 1107C-powered fleets.  In this role you will be supporting services and business operations by integrating operational knowledge into design processes at the system level, performing operational data analysis, and developing system algorithms/modelling, and techniques to measure and predict the health of overall engine systems.

Key Accountabilities:

Rapid Issue Resolution:  Apply understanding of gas turbine product operation, product systems, sub-systems, and interactions to address real-time technical challenges in the fleet.Data & Software Development:  Software development of database and analytical tools to sustain the fleets powered by AE 1107C engines.Predictive Algorithms & Techniques:  Develop algorithms and techniques to detect and predict imminent system level failures such as performance and control, oil and fuel systems, and vibration.System Integration & Maturation:  Integrate and mature in-service systems for functional data including data reduction models, data portal systems, and database systems.Technical Analysis & Support:  Perform system level analysis to understand the behavior of in-service engines to provide support for engineering investigations including safety related items.Customer Interface:  Provide customer interface for in-service and system health related issues, including giving technical presentations and publishing reports documenting engineering analysis.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or Data Science and 2+ years of experience, ORMaster’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or Data Science, ORJD/PhDMust be a U.S. citizenExperience with computational modelling and data analysis (e.g., JMP, MATLAB, SQL, Python, RDP, or Git)Familiarity with system engineering processes and gas turbine engine fundamentals (performance, control, vibration, fuel and oil systems, aircraft mission analysis)

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with DevSecOps, deployment pipelines, or software containers.Familiarity with Equipment/Prognostic Health Management (EHM/PHM) methods.Experience presenting technical subjects; experience with US DoD customers is preferred.Demonstrated ability to define, plan and execute engineering tasks/projects to satisfy business and technical objectives.An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters.Good inter-personal and presentation skills.Experience working with extended (i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teams.
