The general role of the Aerial Construction Technician II – Fiber Optics is stringing and maintaining fiber optic cable which includes pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines. This individual will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair overhead fiber lines. This position requires proficiency with new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, lashing, make readies, and equipment mounting. The work performed will be within communications and power spaces.
This individual understands each product and supports the improvement of operational efficiency. They must be comfortable working in heights and confined spaces for this position.
The Aerial Construction Technician II reports to the Project Manager – Fiber Optics and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance What You'll Bring 2-4 years of relevant Fiber Optics experience preferredMastery of Aerial Construction Technician I Job DutiesSafely perform work in communication spacesQualify to work safely in energized spacesParticipate in training for pole climbingOperate basic hand tools (Cordless Drill, Hammer, Wrench, Socket Set)Inspect, mobilize, and operate a bucket truck from the cabRecord and report the sequential foot marks by the operator or groundmanResponsible for framing polesPull cable, strand, fiber, and lash, for extended periods of timeProvide framing and attachment hardware for operator, jack down guys, pull lasherAssist with worksite housekeeping duties and equipment inspectionsProvide roadway flagging support for the operation to include obtaining Flagger CertificationMonitor basic gauges to determine tension and pressure on the cable linesAttend the reel to ensure uniform deployment of strand and fiber optic cableAssist with performing minor field repairs on equipmentAssist in the completion of documentation to include record-keeping, billing, and inventory, etc.Learn to recognize general safety hazards and electrical-specific hazards such as missing and or degraded parts and hardwareValid Driver’s License is requiredPreferably begins training to obtain CDL A/BProficient in the use of the following equipment: ladders, bucket truck, man lift, cable puller, and reel stands preferredExperience operating small equipment experience (i.e., forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.)Flagger CertificationMust be comfortable working at elevated heights and confined spacesAbility to climb poles up to 40’ using standard safety protocolsQualify as an Electrically Qualified Communication LinemanQualify in rigging (ex.
