Aerial Construction & Maintenance:
Install, maintain, and repair overhead telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, and utility poles. Perform rigging, hoisting, and placement of equipment, cables, and materials in aerial construction. Set and remove poles, crossarms, and other support structures for telecommunications lines. Ensure cables are properly attached to poles, secured, and properly tensioned for optimal performance. Troubleshoot and repair aerial telecommunications systems, including damaged poles, downed lines, or malfunctioning equipment. Work with team members to assist with aerial fiber optic splicing, cable pulling, and other related tasks.Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), working at heights, and ensuring the safety of the crew. Conduct pre-job safety checks, including inspection of equipment and the job site, to identify potential hazards. Participate in safety meetings and adhere to OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices. Take proactive measures to ensure all work is completed without injury, damage, or accidents. Be prepared to stop work or take corrective actions if unsafe conditions are identified.Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
Operate aerial work platforms, bucket trucks, and other heavy machinery to perform tasks such as pole setting and cable installation. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment, reporting any malfunctions or damage. Ensure equipment is properly stored and secured when not in use, and ensure it is ready for operation. Help troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in the field.Team Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with crew members, including Foremen, Line Helpers, and other workers, to ensure smooth operations on job sites. Communicate effectively with team members, project managers, and clients regarding job status, challenges, and safety concerns. Mentor and train less experienced workers in the safe use of equipment, installation techniques, and company standards. Foster a cooperative team environment and ensure work is performed efficiently and to specification.Documentation & Reporting:
Keep accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, material usage, and equipment maintenance. Complete daily reports and submit them to the Foreman or Project Manager, documenting job site activities, safety inspections, and other key information. Ensure all work is completed to customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory guidelines.Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certification in telecommunications or electrical work is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an Aerial Lineman in the telecommunications or utility industry. Experience with fiber optic cable installation, coaxial cable installation, and overhead utility systems. Proficiency in rigging, hoisting, and working with aerial lift equipment. Skills: In-depth knowledge of telecommunications installation, maintenance, and repair procedures for aerial systems. Ability to work at heights and handle physically demanding tasks. Strong communication skills to work effectively with the team and customers. Ability to read blueprints, design specifications, and other technical documents. Knowledge of safety standards, including OSHA regulations and the safe handling of electrical systems. Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor, including climbing poles and working with heavy equipment. Ability to work at significant heights, including using aerial lifts and climbing poles. Ability to crouch, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods.Why Join BCOMM Constructors?
