Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Aero Club, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position does include benefits. . Responsibilities Performs operational and technical duties in support of the Aero Club. Duties include monitoring and administration of aircraft lease payments, processing maintenance analysis and analyzing end-of-month reports. Submits and analyzes Form 270, quarterly status report. Maintains aircraft insurance information and prepares and tracks claims as they occur. Posts Safety Meeting currency to PIF (Pilot Information) cards. Tracks aircraft Tachometer and Hobbs meter readings. Coordinates with Marketing and Publicity Office for all Aero Club advertising. Attends meetings with other base agencies concerned with flight and ground safety, in the absence of manager/chief flight instructor. Provides basic weather reports and runway information as necessary. Performs duties as proctor for FAA Knowledge Test and Supervisor of Flying. Performs a variety of administrative and technical duties in support of Aero Club administration. Uses word processing, spreadsheet, and an Aero Club software program to enter revise, sort, or calculate and retrieve data for recurring reports. Duties include receiving and processing membership applications, answering a variety of questions posed by customers, vendors, and other base agencies. Schedules student flights by assigned instructor and airplane and updates schedule. Coordinates with the manager and chief mechanic ensuring that no airplane is flown that is scheduled for maintenance. Tracks student charge tickets for classroom and flight hours. Prepares required forms to hire contracted flight instructors. Prepares bi-monthly payroll for contracted flight instructors and mechanics, and forwards to the Accounting and Finance Office for payment. Prepares procurement forms (AF Form 9 and blanket purchase agreements) for office supplies, flight charts, "sectionals", publications, fuel, oil airplane parts and supplies, ensuring that all ordered parts are FAA-approved. Coordinates with manager and chief mechanic on priority and method of parts shipment, based on weather reports, anticipated business and total number of aircraft available to fly. Receives and tracks ordered airplane parts. Receives and processes invoices, and ensure that end-of-month requests for payment are completed. Daily input of data relating to Aero Club and AFS to include times flown per aircraft, pre-post and flight time for each student and instructor. Insures Air Force is correctly billed at the end of the month for services provided. Monitors FAA check rides and ensures Contract Examiners are credited and government billed as appropriate. Responsible for all Aero Club management in the absence of the Aero Club manager/chief flight instructor. At times will drive government pickup, when Base Operations is closed Weekends/holidays, there is a requirement to inspect the taxiways and runways. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have progressively responsible managerial or office experience of any kind in which the applicant demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Must have a basic knowledge of FAA, Air Force and Aero Club regulations, procedures and requirements. Must have experience in warehousing activities, which included the ordering, receiving, issuing, sorting and inventory of various types of supplies, commodities, and items. Computer proficiency in various Office products including development of spreadsheets and creating and edit word documents. Ability to research, interprets, and applies regulations and answer customer questions. Ability to solve problems; work independently and effectively under pressure. A valid state driver's license is required in order to gain an Academy runway license. Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Position may be subject to furlough. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
