Job Summary:

Altair is seeking an Aerospace Engineering Intern to support our FlightStream product team. FlightStream is Altair’s class-leading, multi-purpose, mid-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics flow solver, based on an advanced, compressible, viscous-coupled panel method. FlightStream is used worldwide for aircraft design, stability and control analysis of flight vehicles, VTOL transition analysis, and missile and launch vehicle simulation. The FlightStream Aerospace Engineering Intern will lead out in validating the FlightStream solver against high-quality data sources. They will be responsible for communicating the results of such validations to the FlightStream team, Altair personnel, and current and future customers. They will also support the FlightStream development team in continually improving FlightStream as a modern preliminary design tool.

What You Will Do:

Expand the existing library of cases validating FlightStream against wind tunnel, flight test, and other CFD data

Assist with testing the coupling of FlightStream and other Altair simulation tools

Communicate the value of FlightStream both internally and externally via presentations, technical documentation, and scholarly publications

What You Will Need:

Basics:

·       Pursuing a degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

·       Familiarity with panel methods and other mid-fidelity aerodynamic methods

·       Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

·       Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision

·       A can-succeed attitude and work ethic

Preferred:

·       Experience using FlightStream for aerodynamic simulation

·       Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

·       Experience scripting with Python, MATLAB, or similar

·       Familiarity with Altair engineering software products
