Title:
Aerospace Part Inspector / Calibration TechnicianLocation - Yeovil with some travel maybe required to complete calibration tasks to fulfil external Honeywell contracts.
Full time - 37 hours per week with the options of flextime working and excellent benefits package including private health care.
Please note this role requires UK SC Clearance. Applicants must be eligible to obtain an SC Clearance, which requires UK Nationality and a 5 year footprint in the UK.
The Role
This role is working for KBR who are a key supplier to major Aerospace customers where compliance and accuracy of work is vital in the industry and daily operations.
You will be in based in an environmentally controlled lab on an Aerospace site within a small local team of people in a professional environment where you will be primarily responsible for the inspection of non-metallic & metallic parts and the calibration of dimensional hand tools. This is a multirole whereby workload is split between inspection, generation of FAI’ and calibration of hand tools.

Responsibilities
Perform inspection of non-metallic & metallic parts using non-contact measurement techniques and general hand tools
Independently generate, populate, review and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAI’s) to AS9102 standard
Perform adhoc inspection requests from the customer and generate inspection reports
Calibration of various dimensional measuring equipment from Micrometers, Verniers to screw gauging equipment
Calibration of go/nogo and acceptance fixtures
Ability to follow established calibration and manufacturers procedures but the knowledge to create new calibration procedures for new or existing instrumentation
Provide product / quality support to the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Investigation departments for new tooling and part fault finding to technical drawings
Provides training to trainee technicians on metrology principle, resolving technical problems, and complicated theory
Experience
Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to HNC level or applicable technical training and certifications.
Demonstrated experience of working in an inspection role in an aerospace or manufacturing environment
Producing FAI’s to AS9102 standard
Use of a CMM measuring techniques, Vision projectors / microscopes, surface finish and general handtools
Technical Skills/Knowledge
Working knowledge of the Discus and FAI reporting tools
Proficiency in the use of roundness, concentricity and surface finish equipment
Proficiency in MS Office Programs, Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
Good communication skills written and oral
Understanding of the ISO9001, ISO10012 and ISO17025 calibration standards
Understanding of Uncertainty of Measurement Analysis
Qualifications/Certifications Requirements
Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to HNC level or applicable technical training and certifications or substantial experience in a manufacturing or Aerospace environment
A full UK driving licence in order to drive company vehicles
Desirable
Experience in operating a CMM
