We have an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced engineer to develop Aircraft and AeroStructures in Poway, CA .This position will support the design of next generation, high performance unmanned aircraft.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Utilize first principle methods to develop aircraft aerostructures using NX CAD.
+ Own development of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts, assemblies, and installations using sheet metal, billet metallic and/or composite materials for new aircraft designs and/or modifications to existing aircraft.
+ Coordinate with project, stress engineers, manufacturing, procurement, quality control and other departments as required to mature the design from conception to production.
+ Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, and other technical disciplines to independently prepare/status and/or lead the preparation of engineering design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages.

**Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
+ Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
+ Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
+ Ability to document, trade and communicate pro/cons of structural designs based on performance/DFM/DFC
+ Experience designing composite or metal aircraft or spacecraft structures.
+ Ability to perform first order structural sizing
+ Proficiency with Catia or NX CAD Modeling and drawing or MBD
+ Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 along with tolerance analysis capabilities.
+ Proven track record of bringing airframe/spacecraft or automotive structures into manufactured products
+ Able to work extended hours as required.
+ Professional Engineering License is desirable.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with fast paced prototype aircraft or payload design projects.
+ Exposure to finite element analysis of parts or assemblies using Nastran, SimCenter or Mechanica.
+ The ability to create and review of results from Stress and stiffness FEMs and implement improvements or detect errors based on first principles.
+ A passion for and hands on automotive, home built aircraft or manufacturing ability considered a plus.
