The Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry, Maine Forest Service, has a Ranger Pilot vacancy open for AGENCY TRANSFER. The position is located in Old Town at the Central Region Headquarters.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is investigative and protective services work in piloting helicopters and fixed wing aircraft on floats, wheels, skis, or retractable gear in order to transport personnel, detect and suppress fires, rescue lost and injured people, transport equipment, enforce forestry laws, and water bomb fires. An employee in this classification is a sworn, uniformed fully armed law enforcement officer with the same enforcement powers as a Forest Ranger and has statewide jurisdiction. Work is performed under general supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must have accumulated at least 900 hours of helicopter time and be able to complete a commercial fixed wing rating within one (1) year of hire date.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:(These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class):
FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot – Helicopter or Fixed Wing Instrument Rating, Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating and FAA Class I or II medical certificate.
Attendance and successful completion of agency academies is also required.
Must pass physical fitness assessment, MCJA law enforcement and firearms qualification course.
