POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a full-time non-exempt position, 35 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $23.50. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and two (2) years transferrable program/function experience).Experience relevant to the role of the position.Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.Preferred Qualifications:

Program Responsibilities:
Program Delivery - 70%
Utilize established program resources and materials in program work to deliver educational programming. Program topics include but are not limited to: agricultural marketing, business development, agri-tourism, public relations, product diversification, direct marketing strategies, promotion of local product labels, and involvement with value-added opportunities.Teach Agriculture educational programing and program activities in support of other Agriculture programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established plan of work.Provide information to bring awareness to the public in the form of impact statements, articles for progress/annual reports, and news releases, etc.Occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans as identified.Under the direction and oversight of the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director, occasionally adapt already established curriculum and materials as needed to meet established program objectives.Interact with agri-businesses to be aware of new technology and services that could potentially impact targeted clientele and increase profitability as it relates to program delivery.Provide Agriculture educational programs via mass media.Respond to inquiries in the area of agriculture and provide established research based information.Work to foster acceptance of the Agriculture Program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.Assist the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in multi-association team efforts in the implementation of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the Agriculture Program.Serve as a subject-matter resource in the area of Agriculture to staff and participants, community organizations and the general public.Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Agriculture Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.Program Evaluation - 5%
Implement program evaluation as designed.Interact with program participants to obtain evaluation data, to include: evaluating effectiveness of classes and instructors within program areas for all Agriculture Programs.Assist Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, assist in making recommendations for improvements in program offerings.Communicate evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction - 5%
Assist in the planning of major public events and programs including, but not limited to: assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.Assist in assuring good marketing strategies are used in the planning and promotion of programs, and in the generation of an appropriate public image. This includes efforts such as annual report, membership brochures, workshop announcements, public service announcements, and impact statements.Assist the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in multi-association team efforts in the planning of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the Agriculture Program.Management - 10%
Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e. program supplies and materials) to the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director.Assist the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in submitting proposals to secure additional program funding.With guidance from the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director, recruit new volunteers as needed.Under the direction of the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director, assist in the business and management of the Association relating to program, including assisting in compiling annual budget data, and managing the program unit’s portion of the Association budget.Assist Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director with preparing fund proposals to enhance the Agriculture Program.Coordination/Operation - 5%
Organize and coordinate program activities related to Agriculture Programming (i.e. workshops, seminars, tours, consultations, and in-school programs.)Coordinate identified administrative aspects of the Agriculture Program to include, but not limited to: preparing correspondence, maintain files, etc.Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.Assist the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in compiling, preparing and presenting reports to the county legislature, state departments, and funding partners.In cooperation with the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director may participate with Oswego County’s Office of Emergency Management and its related committees and programs.Upon request, and with the permission of the Association Executive Director, submit appropriate written reports on work plans and accomplishments and communicate results to appropriate parties (i.e. Association Executive Director, ad-hoc organizational committees, Cornell program units and faculty, local, state or federal government officials).Assist the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of Agriculture programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.Assist in the promotion of major public events and programs including, but not limited to: assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts. This position will exercise care when utilizing any Association owned property and/or resources while performing position responsibilities.Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions.
